Highland Park Historical Society - December 2019

First Bank of Highland Park features Highland Park Historical Society on the Ruth Fell Wander Community Art Wall

First Bank of Highland Park (FBHP) is pleased to welcome the Highland Park Historical Society as the featured non-profit organization on the Ruth Fell Wander Community Art Wall throughout the month of December. The exhibition, Pieces of the Past, celebrates Highland Park’s 150th anniversary commemorating the City’s past and honoring its accomplishments.

The art wall provides an opportunity for the community to learn more about the Highland Park Historical Society, its upcoming events or how to make a donation. Highland Park’s 150th Anniversary Pieces of the Past exhibit focused on the story behind 64 puzzle pieces that popped up all over town last summer.

The mission of the Highland Park Historical Society is to preserve the community’s past, to inspire an appreciation of its history and culture, and share with the community and scholars the rich history of Highland Park, Illinois.

Long-time board member and co-curator of the Pieces of the Past exhibit, Jeffrey Stern said, “In its 150-year history, Highland Park has been home to many of the Chicago area's most creative and resourceful entrepreneurs, inventors and architects, as well as to prominent government and military leaders. The Highland Park Historical Society is proud to partner with First Bank of Highland Park to provide a place for the public to view all of the Pieces of the Past that were displayed earlier throughout the city, which highlight Highland Park's past and the achievements of some of its most accomplished residents.”

Join the Highland Park Historical Society on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at 7 PM, as they present ‘"By Popular Vote: Highland Park was Dry for 104 Years," on the 100th anniversary of Prohibition, with Nancy Webster, Archivist at the Highland Park Library.
